Snuneymuxw Celebrates Grand Opening of New Basketball Court

Thursday, October 3rd, Snuneymuxw First Nation gathered to celebrate the official grand opening of the new basketball court. This special ceremony marked not only the court’s readiness to our members but also the unveiling of a beautifully crafted memorial sign, designed by Noel Brown Native Art, in honour of Mary Jane Peters, the great-grandmother to Robert Nelson. We are deeply grateful to their family, who generously offered the property to expand recreational opportunities for Snuneymuxw.

This basketball court is a space for all members, especially the next generation of children and youth, to come together, honour their community, and build new relationships through the sport of basketball. We raise our hands to everyone who made this project possible, and we look forward to the growth, unity, and connections this court will bring.
